How to choose cold-pressed
The temperature argument is genuine but often oversold. Lower processing does less damage to some heat-sensitive nutrients, and our score gives cold-pressed food credit for that. It does not make a poor recipe good: a cold-pressed food built on vague derivatives still scores badly here, and several do.
Feeding it is slightly different. Cold-pressed is calorie-dense, so portions look small - weigh them rather than eyeballing, and do not free-feed. Unlike kibble it is not designed to be soaked, and it should not be left sitting in water.
It costs more per kilo than mainstream kibble, and every card below shows the honest cost per day so you can judge whether the difference is worth it for your dog.

Is cold-pressed dog food better than kibble?
It is processed more gently and tends to digest more comfortably, which suits some dogs very well. But format matters less than recipe: a high-scoring kibble beats a low-scoring cold-pressed food. Compare the labels, which is exactly what the ranking above does.
Can I mix cold-pressed food with kibble?
You can, though the two break down at different rates, so many owners find it settles better to feed them at separate meals. Introduce any new food gradually over a week or so whichever way you do it.
Why is cold-pressed dog food more expensive?
Lower throughput, gentler processing and generally better ingredients. It is also more calorie-dense, so you feed less of it - which narrows the gap. The cost per day on each card is the honest comparison, not the price per bag.
