The result looks like dense pellets, keeps like kibble and breaks down quickly in water. The pitch is gentler processing; the recipe still decides whether a given food is any good.
Is cold-pressed food better than normal kibble?
The process is gentler, which is a genuine point in its favour, but process is not recipe. A cold-pressed food built on vague ingredients will score worse than a well-formulated extruded kibble with named meat and clear labelling. Compare individual foods on their /100 scores - the rating already accounts for what is actually in the bag.
How much cold-pressed food should I feed?
Less than you would guess by eye - cold-pressed pellets are denser than extruded kibble, so the same weight fills less of the bowl. Feed by weight against the maker's guide rather than by volume or habit, and adjust to your dog's condition. Sticking with the old kibble scoop is how dogs quietly gain weight on it.
