Our take on Aatu

Written by us, from the labels. Never written, reviewed or paid for by the brand.

Aatu is one of the strongest ranges on this site, and unusually it is strong all the way through. Across 3 rated foods it averages 87/100 (Very good), ranking 39 of 290, with nothing dropping below 82.

The high-meat positioning holds up on the label, which is not something we can say about every brand that puts a percentage on the front of the bag. Aatu For Puppies Dry leads at 90/100. The wet food scores in the same territory as the dry, which matters if you feed a mix or top up kibble with something wetter.

Owned by Inspired Pet Nutrition, a large British manufacturer whose other brands sit at very different price points. That is normal in this industry and not a mark against the food - the recipe is what we score, and this recipe is genuinely good.

The catch is cost. Foods built on this much named meat are not the cheap end of the shelf, so check the price per day for your dog's weight before switching, because a strong score at a price you cannot sustain is not a win.
