Our take on Bonza

Written by us, from the labels. Never written, reviewed or paid for by the brand.

We have rated 1 Bonza food, and it scores 48/100 (Average).

That number needs context, because Bonza is a plant-based food and our score was built to read conventional labels. Most of what earns points on this site - named meat, declared meat percentages, identifiable animal proteins - simply does not apply to a recipe that deliberately contains none. A meat-free food is not being marked down for being poorly made. It is being measured against a scale designed for something else.

So read it accordingly. If you feed plant-based for ethical or medical reasons, the comparison that tells you anything is against other plant-based foods, not against the raw and air-dried ranges at the top of our table. If you are considering the switch, that is a conversation worth having with a vet first - dogs can be fed this way, but getting the amino acid profile right is not something to improvise.

One food is not a range, and we do not currently hold enough Bonza products to say anything about how the brand behaves across a line-up. When we rate more, this page will say more.
