Boost is strong right across its range rather than on the back of one standout food, which is the harder thing to do. Across 5 rated foods it averages 89/100 (Very good), ranking 10 of 304, with nothing below 83 and a top score of 91 - a spread of only 8 points.

The range is mostly frozen fresh-cooked trays, plus a kibble and a freeze-dried topper. It is made in-house in West London, which is unusual for a brand that has moved into the supermarkets this quickly - most brands at that stage are buying manufacturing in. Our best-scoring line is Boost Fresh Food Trays at 91/100.

One thing to check on the pack: part of the range is complementary rather than complete. Those are designed to go alongside a meal, not to be the meal, and swapping one in for dinner leaves gaps that nothing on the label is claiming to fill.
