Our take on Eden

Written by us, from the labels. Never written, reviewed or paid for by the brand.

Eden sells on an 80/20 "biologically appropriate" formula - high meat, no grain, no potato. 7 rated foods averaging 82/100 (Very good), running 51 to 90 - a spread of 39 points - ranking 85 of 304.

The recipes deliver on the claim, which is not something we can say about every brand using that language. High named-meat percentages, short lists, and nothing hiding behind a category. Eden 80/20 Puppy Cuisine leads at 90/100.

The "biologically appropriate" framing is worth a caveat, though. Dogs are not wolves - domestication left them notably better at digesting starch - so the phrase is a marketing position rather than a settled nutritional standard. The food scores well because the ingredient list is good, not because the framing is correct.

Cost is premium at around £1.09 a day for the cheapest.
