Our take on Orygo

Written by us, from the labels. Never written, reviewed or paid for by the brand.

Orygo works in cold-pressed, which is worth understanding before reading the numbers. Cold-pressed food is compressed at low temperature rather than extruded under heat, so it needs less of the starch that binds conventional kibble - usually meaning more meat and a shorter list.

6 rated foods averaging 75/100 (Good), running 57 to 91 - a spread of 34 points - ranking 148 of 290. Orygo Puppy Pate reaches 91/100.

Cost is on the higher side at about £1.17 a day for the cheapest, which is above where most cold-pressed sits.

Two practical notes: the pellets are denser than kibble so weigh the portion rather than eyeballing it, and transition over a full 7-10 days because cold-pressed breaks down differently in the gut.
