Our take on Run

Written by us, from the labels. Never written, reviewed or paid for by the brand.

Run makes cold-pressed food and nothing else, and the two recipes we hold score almost identically. Across 2 rated foods it averages 80/100 (Very good), ranking 116 of 290, with 1 point between them.

Cold-pressed means the ingredients are pressed into pellets at a low temperature rather than cooked and puffed at high heat like standard kibble. The practical differences owners notice are that it breaks down faster in the stomach and is usually fed in smaller volumes. It is a legitimate format with real fans; it is not a magic one, and our score treats it on its ingredients like anything else.

Neither recipe here is grain-free, which is fine. Grain is not a problem for most dogs and a food is not better for leaving it out - what matters is what the meat content and ingredient list actually say, and these two say much the same thing as each other.

Cost is reasonable at around £0.70 a day, with Run Premium Cold Pressed the marginally stronger option at 80/100. With a gap that small, buy whichever suits your dog's workload rather than agonising over the number.
