Our take on Specific
Written by us, from the labels. Never written, reviewed or paid for by the brand.
We have rated 1 Specific food, and it scores 51/100. That looks thin for a brand this size, and the reason is worth explaining rather than leaving as a gap.
Specific is a veterinary range. Most of what it sells is clinical diets - foods formulated for a diagnosed condition, sold through vets, and designed to restrict or boost things a healthy dog does not need restricted or boosted. We do not score those, deliberately. Rating a renal or a hydrolysed diet against an everyday adult kibble would produce a number that is worse than useless, because it would be marking a food down for doing exactly the job it was made for.
What you see here is the everyday life-stage food, the part of the range that competes with ordinary dry food, and on that basis it scores mid-table. That is a fair comparison and the number stands.
If your vet has put your dog on a Specific clinical diet, our score has nothing to say to that and you should not read the absence of a rating as a judgement either way. This is label analysis, not veterinary advice. If your dog has a health condition, talk to your vet before switching foods.
