These guidelines keep reviews on onlydogfood honest and useful - for owners choosing a food and for the brands being reviewed. By submitting a review you agree to them.
Who can leave a review
Reviews should only be left by someone with genuine, first-hand experience of the food - you have actually fed it to your dog. Please don’t review a food you haven’t used, and don’t review a product you make or sell.
What makes a good review
- Be honest, and base it on your own dog’s experience.
- Be specific and helpful - how long you fed it, your dog’s breed, age or size, how keen they were to eat it, and what you noticed (digestion, coat, energy, stools).
- Mention value for money if you can.
- Be fair, even when the food disappointed - explain what went wrong.
What’s not allowed
We won’t publish, and may remove, reviews that:
- Are fake, paid for, incentivised (free product, discounts, prize draws) or written to order.
- Are written by or for a brand, manufacturer or retailer without clear disclosure - see below.
- Aren’t based on genuine first-hand experience of feeding the food.
- Present medical or clinical claims as fact, or offer veterinary advice.
- Are defamatory, abusive, threatening, discriminatory or obscene.
- Reveal someone else’s private information.
- Contain spam, advertising, links or contact details.
If you’re connected to a brand
If you work for, own or are otherwise connected to a dog food brand or retailer, say so clearly in your review. Never review your own products or a competitor’s products - disclosed or not, those will be removed.
Moderation
Reviews are checked before they go live, and we may decline, edit (for example, to remove personal data) or remove any review that breaches these guidelines, at our reasonable discretion. onlydogfood is a platform for genuine opinions and isn’t responsible for the views expressed in individual reviews.
Reporting a review
If you spot a review that breaks these guidelines, contact us and we’ll look into it promptly.
