Our take on Fidelis

Written by us, from the labels. Never written, reviewed or paid for by the brand.

Fidelis is a strong range. Across 4 rated foods it averages 94/100 (Exceptional), ranking 1 of 290 brands, and its best, Fidelis Fresh Menu (grain free recipes), reaches 94/100.

It is a German brand, run out of Moers by Sanadog, selling into the UK direct rather than through shops. The format is the interesting part: gently steam-cooked fresh menus plus an air-dried line made from the same recipes. Both of those sit outside the usual extruded-kibble world, and both tend to score well with us because the labels are short, the meat is named and the percentages are declared. That is not a coincidence - a brand that cooks in small runs usually has less to hide on the bag.

The 2-point gap between the best and worst food is the thing to watch. This is a small range with several variants, and the recipes are not interchangeable. One of them is a complementary food rather than a complete meal, meaning it is designed to be fed alongside something else, not as the whole diet - check the pack before you build a feeding plan around it.

Worth choosing on purpose. Look up the specific menu rather than assuming the whole range performs like the headline number.
