Lily's Kitchen built a brand on being the opposite of big pet food - proper ingredients, kitchen-table origin story, packaging that looks like it came from a deli. In 2020 it was bought by Nestle Purina, which also owns Bakers and Pro Plan. The food did not change overnight. The story did.

Across the 39 foods we have rated it averages 75/100 (Good), ranking 151 of 290. The good products are properly good - "60% Freshly Prepared Beef, Potato, Pea Protein" is a strong, honest label.

The range is uneven though, and the spread of 42 points, from 45 to 87, is where the interesting reading is. Some recipes open on vegetables - "Potatoes 10%, Courgettes 6%, Carrots 6%, Millet 6%" - which is a perfectly legitimate way to build a food and is not what most people think they are buying at this price. Premium packaging does not guarantee a premium ingredient list, and this brand demonstrates that within a single range.

You also pay a real premium here. Whether it is worth it depends entirely on which product you pick up, which is the same thing we say about every brand and is more true of this one than most.

Best here is Lily's Kitchen Fishy Fish Pie at 87/100. The tin is beautiful. Read the side of it anyway.
