Natures Menu got British dog owners feeding raw before raw was a marketing category, and the range still reflects that: proper raw, plus wet food for people who want the idea without the freezer.

Across the 31 foods we have rated it averages 81/100 (Very good), ranking 103 of 290. The Country Hunter line is where the scores live - a recipe declaring "Venison 80%, Blueberries 4%, Peas 3%, Swede 3%" is about as legible as a label gets, and our score rewards exactly that.

The range is not uniform though, and this is the useful bit. Some products here open "Dehydrated Poultry Proteins, Maize, Fresh Chicken, Maize Meal" - unnamed poultry, and maize twice - which is a different food philosophy wearing the same brand livery. The spread across the range is 80 points, from 12 to 92, and that is not a rounding error. It is two different propositions.

On raw generally: it can be an excellent way to feed and it demands handling discipline, especially in a house with children, elderly or immune-compromised people. That is a hygiene point rather than a nutrition one, and anyone telling you either that raw is dangerous nonsense or that it cures everything is selling you something.
