Can dogs eat Milk?
In moderation, and often best avoided - many dogs are lactose intolerant, so milk can cause an upset stomach. A lick is unlikely to harm, but there is no real reason to offer it.

Puppies digest their mother's milk, but as dogs grow up many lose much of their ability to digest lactose, the sugar in milk. That means a bowl of cow's milk can sit undigested and cause gut trouble. Milk is also fatty and adds calories a dog does not need, so it is a food with little upside and a fair chance of a downside.
How much is safe?
If you offer it at all, keep it to a small splash as an occasional thing, not a daily bowl. Many dogs are better off without it entirely. Water is all a dog needs to drink, and there is no nutritional gap that milk fills.
How to prepare it
If you want to offer a little, a small amount of plain, unsweetened milk is the only version to consider - never chocolate milk, milkshakes or sweetened plant milks, some of which contain xylitol. Honestly, plain water is the better choice.
Symptoms to watch for
The classic signs of lactose intolerance are gas, bloating, loose stools or diarrhoea, usually within a few hours. The fat content can also contribute to weight gain and, in sensitive dogs, pancreatitis if they overdo rich dairy.
When to call the vet
A one-off upset stomach usually settles on its own. If diarrhoea or vomiting is severe or lasts more than a day, or your dog seems unwell, contact your vet rather than persisting with dairy.
