Is wet dog food better than dry?
Neither format wins outright. Wet food brings moisture and palatability, dry brings convenience and a lower cost per day - and quality varies enormously within both. A well-made wet food beats a poor kibble and vice versa, so compare individual recipes on their scores rather than picking a side in the format debate.
Can dogs live on wet food alone?
Yes, provided the food is labelled 'complete', which means it meets FEDIAF nutritional standards on its own. Watch for 'complementary' on the tin - those are toppers and mixers, not full diets. Feeding wet-only usually costs more per day, but nutritionally a complete wet food does the whole job.
Why is wet dog food more expensive to feed?
Because most of what you are buying is water. Wet food is roughly three quarters moisture, so a 400g tray contains far less actual food than 400g of kibble. That is not a con - the moisture has real benefits - but it means the honest comparison between foods is the cost per day, which we show on every listing.
How long does opened wet dog food last?
Covered in the fridge, an opened tin or tray is generally fine for about 48 hours - check the maker's guidance on the label. Do not leave the uneaten half out at room temperature all day, and let refrigerated food lose its chill briefly before serving; most dogs find fridge-cold dinner less appealing.
